Reading

At Mithian, we have prioritised reading throughout our curriculum. We ensure that children begin their reading journey in their very first days in Reception and these strong foundations are built upon as they move through the school. Through phonics, children are given the skills to recognise graphemes and blend these fluently to ensure that they become confident readers. As children move into Key Stage 2, they have the knowledge and skills to develop their reading more deeply which in turn ensures greater immersion and understanding of the wider curriculum. We strive for each child to emerge from Mithian as a lifelong learner and reading is at the very heart of this.
